Kerr, Louisa, Lady (McKechnie Section 6)

See Section One for main entry

Two signed portrait miniatures are known, both of which date from an earlier period than the cut silhouettes discussed in Section One. One, Portrait of a Lady in the Chamber of the Muse Polhymnie, dated 1830, was lent by its owner, John Moore Napier, to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, in 1865 for an exhibition. The other miniature is a well painted copy of a study for a portrait of a man by Rembrandt; it is inscribed on the reverse, ‘Painted by L. L. Kerr from a study by Rembrandt/Holmwood April 1831’.
